Hello to all,
During October and November 2022, I spent over a month in the Arctic as a helmsman (in charge of steering and navigating a boat to maintain the desired course) on a cargo ship that supplies native communities. The work was physical, as there is no port or marina in the north, so everything is transferred to barges from the ship. There are two small tugboats that help transport the goods to the beach. Without a doubt, my most beautiful village was Pangnirtung, set inside a magnificent bay and high mountains. It's the second-largest town in Canada's autonomous territory of Nunavut. It is located on Baffin Island, facing the Baffin Sea and Greenland, 300 kilometers from the capital of Iqaluit. Seeing my first icebergs and the northern lights was amazing. On the way out, I spotted whales along the Labrador coast and a few seals on the spot. I flew back from Rankin Inlet after this magnificent journey. The Arctic is another planet, and I've been dreaming of visiting it since I was a child.
