French Polynesia - Rangiroa - Our comparative figures for June 2008

Like every beginning of the month, I compare our dolphin sightings from last year to the same period.
When I look at my June 2008 statistics, I see that they did not take into account :

• The name of the captain
• The duration of the trip
• The number of excursion boats in the pass, ocean or lagoon
• The presence of females, unidentified animals,
• Wave height in the channel, ocean or lagoon
• Behavior in the group
• The number of dive boats in the pass, ocean or lagoon
• Visibility outside the pass
• If we have other marine mammals, the number and behavior
• The identification of species (TT1, TT2, TT3, ....) was not yet noted

However, we can see several things:

• 19 dolphin trips for the month of June 2008
• 15 outflow in Tiputa Pass
• an average of 34.73 minutes of observation
• an average of 6.79 young dolphins encountered
• the output quality is variable between average and good

This information is necessary to know their habits and to be able to talk to our customers on the boat.
