Hello to all,
During the months of October and November 2024, I carried out a dockside contract as an observer (OMM) and acoustics operator (PAM) on marine mammals and mainly on the beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) during marina dredging à Rivière-du-Loup (QC, Canada). I was doing two things: either I was in front of computers with software parameterized for the frequencies emitted by the beluga at the site and at the release site, or as an outside observer during dredging operations. So, in the event of intrusion of this protected animal into the dredging or release zone, we had to stop work until the animal had left the area. We had three hydrophones around the quay and another at the release point. Peveral people were out in the field in turn, 24 hours a dayThe work is carried out as soon as the weather permits. This is an annual project to remove sediment, enabling the ferry to leave the port for the north shore from April to December.
