All against captivity and the massacre of dolphins with the film -The Cove-.

Mr. Rick O'Barry is the star of a documentary filmed in Taiji, Japan, called The Cove, which refers to the annual slaughter of thousands of dolphins. It is being released in theaters today.

This former dolphin trainer for the American series -Flipper-, has been fighting for more than 30 years against captivity and the protection of cetaceans. The Japanese use bays on their coasts to attract dolphins in order to sort them out and sell them to marine zoos. Taiji Cove is infamous. The survivors are killed for their meat which ends up on market stalls or in Japanese restaurants.

I had read in the quarterly of information of the Mediterranean environment, "Planète Mer" (n°62), of the French NGO SOS Grand Bleu (magazine that I support faithfully since years), an article on this subject. The association had been invited by Mr. O'Barry to the presentation of the film during the 62nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 14, 2009). It is produced in France by the director Mr Luc Besson.

I invite everyone to go to theaters to watch it and understand that dolphins continue to be hunted, sold in dolphinariums and that the circus industry is an aberration.
